Gregory again gave excellent service to Colchester United in 2000-01 although he found goals hard to come by. He featured regularly in the first team until he cracked a bone in his foot playing against Port Vale in March and he failed to recover fitness by the summer break. A hard working central midfield player, he teamed up with his brother - Neil Gregory - at Canvey Island in July 2002.
