D'Auria suffered another injury-wrecked season at Chesterfield in 2000-01. Having recovered from long-term back problems he started four straight league games in December constituting his best run for the Spireites since joining the club in November 1999. He then made the odd senior appearance before a foot injury brought his season to an early conclusion. When fully fit he is a talented and hard-working central midfield player.

With ten months still to run, D'Auria's contract at Chesterfield was cancelled in August 2002 by mutual consent.
