Smith had another efficient season in the centre of the park for Stockport County for whom he was a regular in the line-up. He scored just a single goal, netting with a 25- yard drive in the 3-1 defeat by his former club Norwich City back in September. A hard-working left-sided midfield player he still has the ability to find time and space in today's crowded midfield areas and once on the ball he rarely gives it away.
Smith joined Macclesfield Town in January 2003 on a 18-month contract.
