Currie was once again a key figure for Barnet in 2000-01, finishing as the club's joint-top goalscorer and injecting a high level of skill to the Bees' midfield.

Although not blessed with great pace, he has the ability to pass the best of defenders with his intricate foot work while he delivers crosses accurately and has a good eye for goal.

A high point of the campaign was his hat-trick in the 7-0 thrashing of Blackpool in November when he scored with two cracking free-kicks and an exquisite individual effort.

Despite Barnet's relegation from the Football League, Currie was once again named in the PFA Third Division Team of the Year.

The nephew of the former Sheffield United and QPR star Tony Currie subsequently joined Wycombe Wanderers in a £200,000 deal but his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in May 2004.

Currie joined Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2004 with a one-year contract before moving on to Ipswich Town in December 2004 in a deal until June 2007.

He joined Luton Town in July 2007 with a two-year contract but was made available for transfer in May 2008.

Currie joined Chesterfield in July 2008 with a three-year contract.

After a loan spell, he joined Dagenham & Redbridge in January 2010 with a contract to June 2011.
