As a promising Bury youngster, Danny was largely overshadowed by the likes of Sam Collins, Steve Redmond and his namesake Chris Swailes in the running for a place in the first team in 2000-01.
His appearances were mostly restricted to cover for injuries and suspensions but when drafted in he performed creditably.
A central defender who is excellent in the air, his contract at Macclesfield Town was extended to June 2009 in February 2007.
Danny joined Milton Keynes Dons in August 2007 with a one-year contract.
His Dons contract was extended to December 2009 in June 2009.
Danny joined Stockport County in January 2010 with a contract to June 2010 that was extended to June 2011 in July 2010.
