Hill had a disappointing time at Cardiff City in 2000-01 as, although he enjoyed an early season run in the team, he soon lost his place and his only senior appearance after mid-October came in the LDV Vans Trophy tie against Brighton & Hove Albion. Earlier in the campaign, he scored a goal of rare quality when he netted with a delicate chip in the 1-1 draw against Brighton.

Hill is a talented creative midfield player who is capable of opening up opposing defences. With no recognised reserve team at Ninian Park, he had few opportunities at any level and was released in May 2001.
