A speedy defender with a high work rate he likes to get forward to support the attack and can deliver a useful cross, Danny spent five months with Chelsea during which time he won League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup medals.
Danny featured in a couple of early matches for Manchester City in 2000-01 before joining Norwich City on loan in October.
He did well in his short stay at Carrow Road where he featured both at left back and in a more attacking left-sided role.
He subsequently returned to Manchester City but it was not until the away game at Coventry City on New Year's Day that he made the starting line-up.
From then on he featured in almost every game as City battled unsuccessfully for Premiership survival.

Danny was made available for transfer by Crystal Palace in July 2003.
He signed a new two-year contract with Palace in July 2005.
