Craig Hignett had a disappointing time at Blackburn Rovers in 2000-01 after his big money transfer from Barnsley in the summer.

He suffered an achilles injury before the start of the campaign and it was not until October that he eventually appeared for the first team.

He then struggled to establish himself in the side, often featuring as a substitute rather than making the starting line-up.

When given his chance, he produced some solid rather than spectacular performances although he netted stunning goals from free kicks against Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers.

Craig joined Darlington in September 2004 with a contract to June 2005.

He joined Hartlepool United in March 2007 with a contract to the end of the season.
