Dudley had a frustrating time at Oldham in the 2000-01 campaign after starting off with realistic claims to a regular place in the starting line-up. However, faced with increased competition, he found oppor-tunities limited and although he hit a purple patch in October with three goals in two games he was dogged by injuries and illness. A skilful and pacy right-sided striker he signed a new long-term deal in January but subsequently went on the Oldham transfer list in December 2001.
