Platt started the 2000-01 season in brilliant form for Rochdale, scoring six times in the space of eight games early on.
Later on a goal drought affected his confidence for a while, but after a short spell out injured he returned and although the goals continued to elude him, he struck up a devastating partnership with new signing Paul Connor.
Platt is a big tall striker who is an excellent leader of the line.
Platt seemed set to team up again with his former Walsall boss Ray Graydon at Bristol Rovers in May 2003 before agreeing his move to Notts County.
He joined the Magies on a monthly basis due to the club being in administration before signing a permanent deal with Peterborough United in January 2004 with a Posh contract upto June 2006.
Platt's contract at Milton Keynes Dons was extended to June 2008 in October 2005.
He joined Coventry City in July 2010 with a one-year contract.
Platt joined Northampton Town in May 2012 with a two-year contract that was cancelled in January 2014 when he joined Bury with a contract to June 2014.
