Having begun 2000-01 with Conference outfit Scarborough, Chris was snapped up by Leyton Orient boss Tommy Taylor in the autumn. Although appearing mainly as a substitute he netted some vital goals including a double in the 2-1 win at Barnet -a smart volley and a brilliant overhead kick. He went on to score one of the fastest goals in a domestic final when he netted after just 30 seconds in the play-off final against Blackpool, although eventually the O's fell to defeat.

A big and strong striker, Chris went on the Brisbane Road transfer list in February 2002.
