Swailes enjoyed a superb season for Bury in 2000-01 when he was once again a rock in the defence throughout the campaign.
A central defender who is commanding in the air and determined in the tackle, he also proved useful when joining the attack and contributed five valuable goals.
Swailes was runner-up in the supporters' poll for 'Player of the Season'.
His contract at Rotherham United was extended to June 2006 in December 2003 but followed his former Millers boss Ronnie Moore to Oldham Athletic in July 2005 in a two-year deal.
