Priest underwent a double hernia operation in September 2000 and it was not until the end of November that he returned to action for Macclesfield Town.
A quality box-to-box midfield player, he quickly regained his best form, working hard throughout every match and contributing a number of crucial goals for the Moss Rose club.
It was therefore disappointing when he suffered an ankle injury in February that eventually ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
