Marsh missed the first couple of months of 2000-01 while recovering from an achilles operation and it was not until November that he returned to action with the Walsall first team. He seemed to be settling in when he was allowed to join Wycombe Wanderers for a bargain fee in March after 13 seasons with the Saddlers. He subsequently featured regularly for the Chairboys in the closing weeks of the campaign and showed himself to be as fit as ever. He is a sure-footed right back who is calm under pressure and is famed for his 'step-over' trick.
