Hargreaves spent much of the 2000-01 season playing in a left-wing-back role for Northampton Town due to the club's injury problems.
Previously known as a quality left-sided midfield player, his speed and skill on the ball enabled him to make the switch with ease.
He suffered a knee injury against Millwall last February that required a cartilage operation and brought his campaign to a premature close.
Hargreaves signed a new two year contract with Northampton Town in July 2002 before joining Brentford in July 2004 in a two-year deal.
Hargreaves joined Oxford United in July 2005 with a two-year contract.
His contract at Torquay United was extended to June 2010 in June 2009.
