This tough-tackling midfielder had another solid season for Third Division champions Brighton & Hove Albion in 2000-01.
He was a key figure in the centre of the park for the Seagulls as his uncompromising style enabled his colleagues to play some enterprising football.
He missed a short period in the spring when an ongoing knee injury required surgery but, although this was expected to rule him out for the rest of the season, he made a quick recovery and was back on the subs' bench just three weeks later.
Charlie owes his plethora of middle names to the fact that he was named after the Queens Park Rangers players of the early 1970s.
Charlie's contract at Brighton & Hove Albion was extended to June 2006 in January 2005 then to June 2007 in May 2006.
Due to injuries he announced his retirement in August 2008.
