Miller made only one first-team appearance for Watford in 2000-01 coming on from the subs' bench in the Worthington Cup first round first leg tie against Cheltenham. He subsequently had a trial with Wigan Athletic before returning north of the border to join Dundee United on a free transfer in November. A scheming midfield player capable of delivering defence-splitting passes he did well with the Scottish Premier League club where he featured regularly, scoring five goals in 24 appearances. He stepped up to make his full international debut in the friendly against Poland in April.
