One of many promising youngsters on the books at Ewood Park, this attacking midfield player had a somewhat frustrating time for Blackburn Rovers in 2000-01.
Burton made just one first-team appearance when he came on from the substitutes' bench at half-time in a Worthington Cup tie against Portsmouth, an occasion when several fringe players were included, and at times struggled to get a game in the reserves.
A regular for Scotland at Under-18 level, he finished the campaign on the transfer list.
Burton joined Sheffield Wednesday in July 2005 with a three-year contract.
