A summer capture from Clyde, Brian got off to the worst possible start at Stockport County when he injured a hamstring on the first day of pre-season training. Once he had recovered however he struggled to break into the first-team squad and only occasionally showed flashes of the skill that had produced so many goals north of the border. He netted five goals in a Cheshire Senior Cup game against Macclesfield and also grabbed the vital winner against Sheffield Wednesday during County's great end-of-season battle to avoid the drop. At the time of writing his future at Edgeley Park seemed to be in some doubt following an off-the-field incident.
