Carey never played for the first XI in a competitive match at Manchester United.
Wrexham's club captain became a powerful and effective central defender who contributed his fair share of goals.
Carey signed a new one-year contract in May 2004.
Having become a member of the Dragons' coaching staff, Carey re-registered as a player on non-contract terms in December 2006.
