Bixente Lizarazu began his career at Caen before switching to play for Bordeaux in the 1988-1989 season where he joined Zinadine Zidane and Christophe Dugarry.
He made his international debut in November 1992 and remained a member of the team.
Bixente moved from Bordeaux to play for Athletic Bilbao for the 1996-1997 season before signing for Bayern Munich in the summer of 1997. He has remained at the club winning the Champions League in 2000-2001 season.
He was arguably the best left back in the world possessing great speed, good tackling, excellent positioning and great attacking ability.
