Aged 16 years and 221 days, Billy became West Ham United's youngest ever player when he made his debut against Blackpool in League Division Two on 6 May 1922.

The record stood until July 2015 when it was broken by Reece Oxford in a UEFA Europa League tie.

In his season with Chelsea, Billy played in two games, against Grimsby Town and Reading.
