The original Newcastle No. 9, Billy was the Magpies centre-forward when numbered shirts were introduced in 1939. He set the trend with a series of wholehearted performances.
Billy also played for Holborn Rangers and Stargate Rovers (amateur). Appeared for Liverpool as a war guest for one game in WWII as well as Newcastle United and Gateshead.
