Although born in Cameroon, Bill (who is the son of a diplomat) was brought up in France from the age of nine. He developed as a useful left-sided defender with Caen, Valence and Nice. Bill joined Montpellier in the summer of 2000 and won promotion to La Championnat at the end of his first season at La Mosson. Rather a latecomer on the international scene, he won his first cap in a World Cup qualifying tie against Libya in June 2000. He went on to feature regularly for the Indomitable Lions in their successful campaign to qualify for the trip to the Far East and retaining the African Nations Cup in Mali.
