A promising winger, Bernard made his debut for Cameroon against Mexico in 1993 and is a veteran of three successive African Nations' Cup finals. He featured in seven of his country's qualifying games for Japan/South Korea, scoring twice in the 3-0 win over Angola. At club level he spent several seasons in Turkey before switching to Roda JC after a brief and unproductive spell with RC Genk.
