Out of favour at Oxford United, Ben spent the first month of 2000-01 on loan at Ryman League club Aldershot Town before signing for Third Division Southend United.

He became an instant favourite with the Roots Hall fans after scoring two goals on his debut against Macclesfield Town.

A small and lively striker with great pace and agility, Ben joined Woking on a one-year contract in August 2002 before returning to the Football League with Macclesfield Town on non-contract terms.

He has also played for Metropolitan Police and Tooting & Mitcham United.
