An immensely talented central midfielder or striker he did not play domestic football but is a product of the Paris St Germain youth system, breaking into the first team in 2001-02.

He did not play in qualification for the 2002 World Cup and he only made his international debut in March 2002 against Paraguay.

His club refused to release him for the African Nations' Cup Finals in Mali.

Bart joined Middlesbrough in October 2011 with a contract to June 2012.
