As a promising young goalkeeper, Barry Roche made an immediate impression on his debut for Nottingham Forest.
Coming on from the subs bench after Dave Beasant had received a red card, he saved a penalty in the dying minutes of the game.
His only other senior action came when he stepped in for the suspended Beasant for the home game against Sheffield Wednesday when he kept a clean sheet.
Tall and commanding in the box, he featured for the Republic of Ireland at Under-18 level during the 2000-01 season.
Barry's contract at Nottingham Forest was extended to June 2005 in June 2004.
Barry joined Chesterfield in July 2005 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2008 in May 2007.
He joined Morecambe in July 2008 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2012 in May 2010, to June 2014 in January 2012, to June 2016 in May 2014, to June 2017 in March 2016, to June 2018 in June 2017 and to June 2019 in May 2018.
