A near ever-present for Gillingham in 2000-01, Barry was once again a dominant force at the heart of the defence. Although troubled by a calf injury towards the end of the campaign he was an automatic choice in the club's first season in Division One. A reliable central defender, he is always dangerous at set pieces and is very effective pushing down the right wing from where he can deliver an accurate cross into the box.
