Yanagisawa was a scoring sensation in his early career. He started Kashima Antlers for whom he made his debut in August 1996. He reached 50 goals in the J-League in the fewest games ever.
He played in the 2000 Olympics.
He turned down a move from Japan to play in Italy in January 2002.
He has good speed, excellent vision and is a good finisher.
