Ashley Westwood appeared in a couple of InterToto fixtures for Bradford City in the 2000 close season before moving on loan to Sheffield Wednesday in August 2001.

He did well enough to earn a permanent transfer and he went on to become a regular figure in the centre of the Owls' defence.

He linked up again with his old manager Paul Jewell and looked a useful acquisition, helping to provide a more solid look to the back line at Hillsborough.

Ashley has great drive and enthusiasm and his height and mobility make him very useful when joining the attack for set pieces.

He was made available for transfer by Chester City in August 2007.

Ashley rejoined Crewe Alexandra in March 2011 with a contract to June 2011.

He joined Northampton Town in August 2011 on non-contract terms before agreeing a deal to December 2011.
