Elding had played at Liverpool, Lincoln City and Grimsby Town's academies before joining Boston United.
He joined Stevenage Borough in February 2003 in a two-year deal.
Elding returned to his home town club in May 2006 with a two-year contract.
He joined Stockport County in January 2007 with a contract to June 2009.
Elding joined Leeds United in January 2008 with a contract to June 2010.
He joined Crewe Alexandra in July 2008 with a three-year contract that was cancelled in January 2010.
Elding joined Rochdale in July 2010 with a two-year contract.
