Having spent five weeks of the close season in plaster, Andy was further dogged by a niggling ankle injury at the start of the 2000-01 campaign and never really got into his stride despite featuring regularly for Tranmere Rovers once fit.
A slightly built striker who is at his best when played out wide on the right-hand side he has good pace and the ability to create panic in opposition defences with his tricky skills.
Playing against Premiership opposition seemed to inspire him for he netted two superb goals in the 3-2 Worthington Cup win over Leeds United and was in dazzling form in the FA Cup ties against Everton and Southampton.
Andy was made available for transfer by Sheffield United in May 2004 and joined Grimsby Town with a two-year contract.
His contract at Accrington Stanley was extended to June 2011 in January 2011.
