Jones's Mansfield Town debut (at Queens Park Rangers in February 2003) was one of the more unusual in Football League history. Coming off the bench, he was booked for a reckless tackle before he had kicked a ball, then sent-off for a second rugged challenge only nine minutes after entering the field of play.
