Having joined Watford from Redbridge Forest, Andy transferred to Gillingham after five successful years with the Hornets.
He was appointed player-coach during the summer of 1999 and player-manager a year later when Peter Taylor left the club to manage Leicester City. His contract at the Priestfield was extended to June 2007 in March 2004.
Andy stepped down as manager on 23 November 2004 but was retained on Gillingham's playing staff later teaming up again with Peter Taylor - who'd also been his manager during his non-league days at Dartford - in a loan spell at Hull City.
Some publications incorrectly show Andy's birthdate as 17 June 1965 and birthplace as Dartford.
Andy's contract at Gillinham was cancelled in January 2006. He joined Barnet with a contract to the end of the 2005-06 season that was extended to June 2007 in May 2006.
