Andy Griffin

A talented full-back whose versatility and technical ability made him an important member of the Newcastle United defence, Andy is powerful in the tackle and has good positional sense.

He is rarely exposed defensively, while his pace and stamina allow him to push down the wing in support of the attack.

Having played through the pre-season period in 2000, he was disappointed when a groin strain kept him out of the side during the opening games on 2000-01 but he returned with a 'Man of the Match' performance in the Worthington Cup tie against Leyton Orient and went on to become a near-regular in the Magpies squad.

Unfortunately, he was then sidelined by a hernia operation in early May and his campaign came to a premature close.

A regular in the England Under-21 squad, he added a further cap in the friendly against Spain in February 2001.

Andy joined Portsmouth in July 2004 with a four-year contract.

He joined Derby County in August 2007 with a three-year contract.

Andy joined Stoke City in January 2008 with a contract to June 2012.

After a loan spell, he joined Reading in July 2010 with a two-year contract.

Andy joined Doncaster Rovers in October 2012 on a non-contract basis before agreeing a contract to June 2013 in January 2013.
