They say that everything comes to those who wait, but even Andy Goram probably couldn't believe his dream move at the end of the 2000-01 campaign. Twenty years after Tommy Docherty tried to sign him for Manchester United, a goalkeeping crisis prompted Alex Ferguson to sign him from Motherwell in March. At 36, the former Scottish international goalkeeper was considered a stop-gap signing and he appeared just twice for United.
Andy was a rarity in the modern game as a double international, having played both football and cricket for Scotland.
