Andy Edwards was yet again a rock-like figure in the heart of defence for Peterborough United in the 2000-01 season.
A virtual ever-present, he captained the side with great authority and provided one of the highlights of the campaign when he sold a dummy to Chelsea's Frank Leboeuf in the FA Cup tie at Stamford Bridge.
He was a commanding central defender who was good in the air, quick to recover and tackle back, and a constant danger when coming up to support the attack at set pieces.
Andy ended his long association with the Posh when he joined Rushden & Diamonds in March 2003 on a one-year contract.
He returned to Southend United in July 2004 also with a one-year contract.
