Having missed most of the 1999-2000 campaign with a broken leg, Andy returned to first-team action with Cambridge United in 2000-01 and forged an excellent partnership with new signing John Dreyer in the back line during the first half of the season.

He went on to become a near ever-present for the Us, scoring his only goal with a last-minute header to earn a point at Brentford.

Andy, who is a cultured defender whose confidence and strength are assets to the United defence, extended his Abbey contract to June 2005 in June 2004.
