This local-born player progressed through the Kidderminster Harriers' youth and reserve teams before being handed his first professional contract in the summer of 2000.
He made his Football League debut when coming off the subs' bench in the home game against Leyton Orient in September but generally found his first-team opportunities limited and, in March, he went out on loan to Redditch United.
However, Andy clearly did enough to impress the management at Aggborough and was given a two-year extension to his contract at the end of the campaign.
He was a traditional-style centre forward who later became a reliable defender.
Andy's contract at Burton Albion was extended to June 2011 in May 2010 and to June 2013 in May 2011.
