Carter made just a brief appearance in Walsall's first team last season, replacing Paul Hall for the final 10 minutes of the away win at Wrexham before being released by the Saddlers. He subsequently joined Dr Martens League club Bromsgrove Rovers and later had an extended trial at Gillingham featuring for the reserve team on several occasions. He is a young hard-running midfield player.
