A tough-tackling versatile player, Alfe-Inge Haaland was equally comfortable at full back, central defence or as a holding midfielder.
He first had a taste of English football at Nottingham Forest in 1994, and made 93 appearances before moving on to Leeds United at the beginning of the 1997-98 season.
Although not a regular starter at Elland Road, he was a very important squad member and came into his own during their UEFA Cup campaign in 1999 and an experienced international with Norway.
Signed for £2.5million in June 2000 as Manchester City's first major purchase on their return to the Premier League, he was forced to retire due to injury.
Alf-Inge is the father of Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland.
