Northern Ireland International
With Newcastle United, FA Cup winner 1952. Alf arrived on Tyneside in a deal that also brought George Hannah from Linfield. A magnificent full back and captain for 14 seasons, he remained Newcastle's most capped player until Shay Given exceeded his total of 40 for Northern Ireland in 2003.
