Shankly felt Alf Arrowsmith was 'born to score goals.' He played an important role in helping Liverpool win the 1st Division Championship in 1964, scoring 15 goals. Unfortunately he was injured in the 1964 Charity Shield game against West Ham and never recaptured his early form.
