Position | Goalkeeper |
A competent goalkeeper he began his career at Fakel Voronezh and played for Tekstilstedt before making his big break when signing for Moscow Spartak in 1996. He made his international debut in March 1998 against France and looked to have made the number one shirt his own, but a blunder in the 2000 European Championship qualifier against the Ukraine saw Russia fail to qualify and Alexander dropped from the team. At club level he lost his place to Maxym Levytskyi and moved to Uralan Elista in the Ukraine for the 2001-2002 season. A tall imposing goalkeeper he played no part in qualification and he will be on the bench here.
