NationalityGhanian
Weight76 kg
Height1.85 m
PositionMidfielder

Signed from leading French club Lens, Alex arrived at Everton to a fanfare of publicity - likened in many quarters to Arsenal's Patrick Vieira. Physically the pair may have been alike, but there was no real comparison in styles of play.

Pre-season Alex looked an elegant and classy midfielder. After scoring with one particularly inventive back-heel against Manchester City, the Everton fans sat back in expectation.

A solo goal at Tottenham Hotspur apart, however, he failed to live up to those expectations. He made 13 successive appearances before the first of a number of injury problems began to affect him.

His first game back for almost two months saw him harshly red-carded at Ipswich Town, then came an upsetting incident at Arsenal following which he announced his retirement from professional football.

However, he later renounced that decision, but stated his firm desire to quit Everton and was transfer listed.

Alex previously played for Dawu Youngsters and Ashanti Kotoko.
