Watford's senior professional with more than 650 first appearances as a goalkeeper for five different clubs, Alec started the 2000-01 season on the bench following the summer signing of Espen Baardsen.
However, he regained his first-team place when Espen was injured and proved as reliable as ever when called upon.
He had the unusual experience for a 'keeper of coming on three times as a substitute during the season - replacing Baardsen against Cheltenham Town, Crewe Alexandra and Grimsby Town.
Alec signed a new one-year contract at Watford in May 2004. This was extended to June 2006 in March 2005, then to June 2007 in July 2006.
