Full name is: Albert Ferrer Llopis.
This superb Spanish international right back was still recovering from an ankle injury at the start of the 2000-01 season and the arrival of Christian Panucci on a long-term loan seemed to put his future at Stamford Bridge in doubt.
However, his luck changed when Claudio Ranieri took over as boss and he returned for the Blues in the 3-0 victory over Liverpool in October, retaining his place in the side while Panucci was released to join Monaco.
A feature of Signor Ranieri's stewardship has been his willingness to vary his formations and Albert showed himself to be equally adept playing in a flat back four or pushed further forward into a right wing-back role within a five-man midfield.
He was one of the most popular of Chelsea's 'Foreign Legion.'
