Signed by Reading on a Bosman free transfer during the 2000 close season Adrian settled down quickly and showed that he had matured considerably since his previous loan spells at the club. A near ever-present he proved himself to be a tough competitor in the heart of the defence playing with great composure. Strong in the air and with a great determination to win, he saved many dangerous situations for the Royals with his expert sliding tackles.
