A very promising young central defender who left Senegal to sign for Serie B club Treviso in October 2000 but soon afterwards joined AC Milan on loan.
He went on to help the club to victory in the prestigious Viareggio youth tournament and was quickly signed on permanent forms for a fee in the region of £1 million.
He has already made his senior debut, featuring in both legs of the UEFA Cup tie against Belarus's Bate Brasov, and scoring in the 4-0 return leg victory.
Adama won his first senior cap for Senegal in an African Nations' Cup qualifier against Togo in June 2001, but had the misfortune to receive a red card just 25 minutes after coming on from the subs' bench.
He joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2002-03 season.
